Retaining Wall Renovation

Idea:

The little retaining wall by the footbridge over the canal by the Swamp Locks is starting to attract graffiti…why not hire an artist to paint it with something amazing and local instead.?
Benefit:

Many people, locals and visitors alike, walk past the Swamp Locks and over the footbridge. The retaining wall could be painted to give some information about the lock/waterpower/history of the park and inform while at he same time giving folks something beautiful to look at.

Robots Invade Lowell

Idea:

Let’s make some robot helpers! Partner with UMass Lowell, Lowell Makes, groups in Boston, or other robot clubs to create a temporary demonstration or an event featuring robots. We would invite kids and their families. There could even be a robot competition! (Best robot or robots designed to play sports).
Benefit:

Robots help people. Robots would help kids become more interested in science. This might also draw kids and adults from outside of Lowell to visit our great city!

Rooftop Garden Demonstration

Idea:

On flat rooftops, there should be gardens and unused urban rooftops can be designed for community and volunteer-maintained gardens, where there can be volunteer days for anyone to come out and help maintain the space and bring home harvested produce. Benefit:

It would increase the amount of local and affordable produce, while beautifying an under-utilized space or spaces in the city. Gardens help decrease CO2 in the atmosphere AND save energy bills for buildings. Less runoff water in sewage from storms
